The “BIG” Present!

We held off giving Thomas his “BIG” present until today. With all the excitement of the last two days it made sense to wait until life was somewhat back to normal to introduce such a fun pressie, a Peg Perego Super Gaucho Jeep. As soon as he saw it his face lit up and he scrambled into it. The Jeep has 3 speeds, the slowest is very slow, too slow. The medium speed is good and the top speed of 7 mph hauls pretty damn fast, too fast for a little guy that doesn’t get the concept of steering or braking. It’s a 24-volt machine and has enough power to haul Thomas and Daddy together although the seating is a little cramped. I’m sure Thomas will be begging for more driving tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day…. Personally, I can’t wait until it’s spring and we can hit the trails with it. Hopefully Thomas will be a more proficient driver by then. Practice makes perfect!

I spent the weekend in Minden Ontario, about 2 hrs north of Toronto, shooting the OF4WDs annual CampNL Charity Trailfest. 150 off road vehicles crawled through trails on the Canadian Shield, and the drivers were treated to the awesome food catered by Tony at the Rubicon Grill in Mississauga. If you’re ever close to Toronto you have to check out Tony’s ribs & wings, and the slew of sauces…yummy! Back to the 4x4s, money raised from the event goes to support the local hospital foundation in Haliburton. Great event, great scenery, great people and a great charity!
