When you live in Canada maple syrup is pretty well a staple for pancakes, and when the sap is running it alerts us that winter is past and we’re heading into glorious spring weather. With all the snow we had this winter, although it wasn’t a very cold winter, it sure is nice to know we’ll be in sandals soon.
Luckily we have numerous locations that host maple syrup festivals and it’s always fun to get out and shoot. Today we took a trip to Westfield Heritage Village (we were there in February too) to take in the delights of the maple syrup production. The village is quite impressive with over 35 pioneer buildings on site. Although I think Mountsberg’s sugar bush and syrup production is more robust, Westfield takes you back to a time where living was more simple, although I can imagine life being a lot harder without the amenities & conveniences of today’s society.
Here a few shots from the visit.
